Swedish 3D printing specialist expands into Denmark
With the takeover of Damvig (Taastrup / Denmark; www.damvig.dk), 3D printing and small series specialist Prototal (Jönköping / Sweden; www.prototal.se) is expanding production to Denmark. “The acquisition of Damvig complements our investments in additive manufacturing in Jönköping and Ystad and is a springboard for further investments in Central Europe,” says Prototal boss Henrik Lundell. The acquisition adds fused deposition modelling (FDM) and polyjet technologies to the Swedish company’s 3D printing processes. Until now, its range has included stereolithography (SLA), selective laser sintering (SLS) and multi-jet fusion (MJF).

Damvig was founded in 1995 by siblings Susanne Damvig and Jesper Damvig. Prototal recently acquired Acron Formservice (Anderstorp / Sweden; www.acron-form.se) and now has several plants in Sweden – in Anderstorp, Götene and Ystad – in addition to its headquarters in Jönköping, the new site in Denmark and Levanger / Norway. Prototal has 190 employees, more than half of whom work in Jönköping. It generates annual sales of around SEK 400m (EUR 38m).
