Jakob Sigurdsson, CEO of Europe's largest rotational moulders and packaging specialist Promens (Reykjavik / Iceland; www.promens.com), was in attendance at the November opening of the company's Chinese production facility in the coastal city of Taicang, which the company previously announced would be ready for start-up before the year came to a close – see Plasteurope.com of 25.04.2013. Initially, the new site, located 60 kms northwest of Shanghai, is to produce rotational moulding plastics, primarily serving the food and material handling industries.
During the opening ceremonies Promens' head of the supervisory board, Hermann Thorisson and Wang Hong Xing, secretary of the Communist Party, jointly signed a letter of intent for the further construction and expansion at the facility in the coming year. When the next phase is completed, the site will be able to manufacture products for the automotive industry as well as have capabilities for injection and blow moulding.
