Extrusion plant to be established in India / Global expansion plan focuses on high growth countries
Window profile manufacturer profine (Pirmasens / Germany; www.profine-group.de) is to open an extrusion plant in India by the end of 2012. The new facility is part of the company’s global expansion plan, which includes a focus on high growth countries, and will be operated by its subsidiary profine India Window Technology (Gurgaon, Haryana / India). Planning for the plant set-up is in progress and details of its precise location are not yet available, a profine spokesman said.
The uPVC profile manufacturer has been active in the Indian windows and doors market for over five years. Customised systems, including an outward opening and a special sliding system, will be produced at the new plant. Similar systems are already being supplied by profine under the Kömmerling brand name.
Albrecht Lange, profine chief strategy officer, said: “We treat India as a growth market which we develop continuously together with our customers. Following the establishment of our own subsidiary in 2010, local extrusion is the next step in this journey.” Aside from its production plants in Germany, profine also operates facilities in Marmoutier / France, Bosaro / Italy, Madrid / Spain, Woskresensk and Chabarovsk / Russia, Zaporozhie / Ukraine, Tianjin / China as well as Huntsville, Alabama / USA (sheets). With 28 sites spread across 21 countries, profine's workforce numbers about 3,200 – of which 1,800 are located in Germany. Overall group production capacity stands at 450,000 t/y.
