Following the commissioning of additional extrusion lines at its German site in Buxtehude, profile manufacturer Primo (Copenhagen, Denmark; www.primo.com) plans to invest further in growth. The goal is to increase production capacities in Buxtehude and expand international activities, German managing director Oliver Beer told Plasteurope.com. The company currently has 11 branches in Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, Poland, and China.

Last year, Primo set up four additional extrusion lines at Buxtehude in response to the increased demand for protective profiles and covers for wind turbines. This brought the number of production lines for the corresponding Energy & Offshore segment at the site south of Hamburg up to five. The company also manufactures products for this segment at its Swedish plant in Limmared, where 24 lines are available for this purpose.

In addition to production for offshore applications, Buxtehude is also home to the competence centre for Primo’s business with seals for windows and doors. Primo officially opened the 9,300 m² plant in November 2022, initially with 12 production lines, after relocating production there from two smaller, now-closed German facilities. Currently, just over 60 employees work out of the plant in Buxtehude. The company, founded by the Grunnet family in 1959, employs around 1,000. Last year, it reported a turnover of EUR 174 mn and a profit of just under EUR 2 mn.
