Profile manufacturer Primo (Copenhagen; www.primo.com) said it plans to take over the Danish plastics fibre production plant of German film and sheet extruder Epsotech (Jülich-Kirchberg; www.epsotech.de). No financial details were disclosed.
The deal for the 13,000 m² facility in Tistrup, located near an existing Primo production plant, is expected to be completed on 1 July 2022. At the site, Epsotech recycles fishing nets, ropes, and other scrap material into monofilaments, which in turn can be processed into fishing nets, nonwovens, or building materials.
The Danish company, which is also expanding its German production site in Buxtehude, said it expects to increase know-how for producing recyclates through the acquisition of the Epsotech’s operations. This knowledge is to be incorporated into other business areas in the future, Primo CEO Claus Tønnesen said.
Primo, which is owned by the Grunnet family, currently has 12 sites in Europe and China. The company said its 1,000 employees most recently generated a turnover of EUR 181 mn.
