POLYTEC
Acquisition of two Lear factories in Italy and Sweden / Group sales EUR 89m
Polytec Kunststofftechnik GmbH (A-4063 Hoersching), a subsidiary of the Polytec Group ( www.polytec-group.com), acquired two European plants for plastic body parts (SMC) from American automotive supplier Lear Corporation (Southfield, Michigan / USA; www.lear.com) on 1 January 2001. These are Lear Interior Systems Operations Mondovi (I-12084 Mondovi) and Lear Corporation Sweden AB (SE-34126 Ljungby). Both facilities supply the automotive and truck industry and achieved joint sales of some EUR 55m in 1999. The fast-growing Polytec Group, which belongs to CapVis Equity Partners AG (Walchestr. 9, CH-8098 Zurich; www.capvis.com) and has its main facilities in Austria, Germany and Great Britain, reported sales of around EUR 89m last time round.
In both plants acquired, production is focused on exterior parts for utility vehicles, such as roofs, side reflectors, bumpers, cab corner sections and roof spoilers. Use is made of SMC technology. The acquisition has considerably expan-ded production at Polytec, as well as the company´s market.
