POLYONE
Quebec plant to be shuttered / New manufacturing lines for Ohio facility / Spartech integration continues
US compounder PolyOne (Cleveland, Ohio; www.polyone.com) continues to take strategic steps associated with its 2012 purchase of packaging solutions producer Spartech (see Plasteurope.com of 29.10.2012). Although it did not disclose the amount it intends to invest, PolyOne said several of its Designed Structures and Solutions facilities will receive new equipment, information systems and processes. As an example, the company points to its plant in Greenville, Ohio, where it intends to install new PETG and “Royalite” sheet manufacturing lines next year. The plans also call for additional prototyping capability for its innovation centre in St. Louis.
Meanwhile, the group on 18 August began the process of closing down its facility in Granby, Quebec / Canada. Production will be shifted to other sheet and rollstock facilities within its manufacturing network, PolyOne added.
PolyOne’s earnings fell by 33% year-on-year to USD 155m in 2014, while sales increased by 2% to USD 3.84 bn – for more details, see Plasteurope.com of 29.01.2015.
