On 1 January, Polymer Solutions, a subsidiary of Krall Kunststoff-Recycling (Elsenfeld, Germany; www.kunststoff-recycling.de), acquired the former recycling site of Mocom (Hamburg, Germany; www.mocom.eu) in Erlenbach am Main, Germany. The existing recycling lines, with a total capacity of around 5,500 t/y, are to initially process polyamide from post-industrial waste, Krall said.
Polymer Solutions will produce regranulates and regrind at the new site, which has a usable area of around 4,000 m². “This activity represents an important step in the forward integration of our company and a further expansion of production,” said managing director Jörn Bahr. Together with Polymer Solutions, Krall can offer the entire cycle from collection and grinding to the delivery of ready-to-use recyclates from a single source.
Krall, founded in 1992, specialises in transparent plastics such as polycarbonate and PMMA. The company also specialises in engineering plastics and the recycling of CDs. The family-run company currently has six halls with a usable area of 12,000 m² at its Elsenfeld site. With around 40 employees, two shredders, and 10 granulators, the company achieves an annual throughput of around 8,000 t of plastics.
