The "Campus" material database, claimed by M-Base Engineering + Software GmbH (Dennewartstr. 27, D-52068 Aachen) to be the most successful database of its kind worldwide, is celebrating its tenth birthday. This aid in material selection and comparison has become the standard instrument for developers and designers deciding on a material.

M-Base has announced the arrival of the new Version 4.1 of Campus for the autumn. This contains additional material constants and, for the first time, includes a uniform classification of plastics according to base polymers.

The "MCBase" program has proved to be a useful supplement to Campus; it integrates the material data of as many producers as desired in a single file, offering all the customary selection and comparison facilities under a user interface similar to that of Campus. Users can then perform the entire material selection process in a single operation, on the basis of all the material data available, while Campus itself only permits a selection within the materials from an individual producer.
