POLYMERS FOR EUROPE ALLIANCE
Award for best European plastics producers launched / Voting open until mid-May / Study planned to assess European converters' competitiveness
The Polymers for Europe Alliance has launched an award for the best polymer producers in Europe. The online survey is available free of charge to all polymer users in Europe who can rate their suppliers’ performance in 2015 up to May 2016 in complete confidence. The suppliers are split into eight different categories – LDPE, HDPE, PC, PET, PP, PS, PVC and U-PR – and are rated on five criteria, namely polymer quality, regulatory compliance, material delivery performance, communication and innovation. An overarching award on innovation, covering all polymer types, will also be introduced.

Ron Marsh, chairman of the Alliance (see Plasteurope.com of 02.07.2015), said it started the awards in order to re-establish a good communication between polymer users and their suppliers, which has suffered lately. “We simply want to award those producers who support their European customer base,” said Marsh, adding that the online rating tool is easy to understand, very user-friendly and is written in several languages in order to attract as many users as possible. Participants can select and rate their three best suppliers from a global list of producers, but they must first register with the Alliance to access the tool. The registration is necessary, explained Marsh, to ensure that only eligible European companies take part.
Polymer users can register via the Polymers for Europe Alliance on the Polymer Comply Europe website: www.polymercomplyeurope.eu/node/210/register. The voting period is open for three months from mid-February to mid-May 2016. The awards ceremony will take place during European Plastics Converters' (EuPC, Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticsconverters.eu) annual meeting on 2-3 June 2016 in Lyon / France.
The Polymers for Europe Alliance was established by EuPC during its General Assembly in May 2015 with the objective of providing public factual information about polymers supply in Europe and to renew constructive dialogue with producers (see Plasteurope.com of 29.05.2015).
This year, the Alliance also plans to carry out an exploratory industry study to assess the level of competitiveness of European plastics converters.
