Acquisition of Swedish distribution company / New European MD appointed
Polymerland Europe (PO Box 117, NL-4600 AC Bergen op Zoom) has acquired the Swedish-based chemicals and plastics distributor Gren & Bennich AB (Box 1242 S-1182 Stockholm). The move extends Polymerland's presence in the Nordic region. At the same time the former principle owner of Gren & Bennich, Göran Bennich has been appointed the new managing director for Polymerland Europe. Bennich set up Gren & Bennich in 1978 in Sweden. Since then the company has opened offices in Finland and Norway and has grown to become one of the largest agents/distributors of its kind in the region with annual sales in excess of USD 90m.
Polymerland Europe is the European polymers distribution business of GE Plastics. The company is clearly seeking to develop a European-wide network for distribution. It presently has offices and depots in the UK, Benelux, France, Germany and Spain and further expansions in 1997 are expected.
