Polykemi (Ystad, Sweden; www.polykemi.se) said it inaugurated it first US compounding facility in Gastonia, North Carolina, in April 2023.
The site covers 5,000 m², contains two production lines with a total capacity of 6,500 t/y, and employs 20. If necessary, Polykemi said it can expand the area available to 10,000 m². The company noted that it plans to make virgin and recycled material at the plant.
The Swedish company has been represented in the US since 2013 by a subsidiary that sells compounds from an American partner in Evansville, Indiana.
With its own compounding facility, Polykemi now operates five plants on three continents.
In April, the company announced the establishment of a Mexico-based distribution subsidiary. Mexican customers were previously either served by the company’s Swedish headquarters or US partners.
