POLYKEMI
Launch of "Scanrex" PPA compounds
Swedish compounder Polykemi (Ystad; www.polykemi.se) has launched additions to its range of engineering thermoplastic compounds under the name "Scanrex". Two PPA compounds containing 30 and 50% glass fibre constitute base grades that make them usable in designs previously made with metal.

According to the company, Scanrex PPA compounds are characterised by low moisture absorption and good retention of mechanical strength at high temperatures. These characteristics make Scanrex materials useful in mechanical components and automotive parts, such as ball joint bearings, gear wheels and hinges. The company states that these compounds contribute to weight reduction by replacing metal in supporting constructions in the automotive industry. In the engine, PPA can be used in component housings, air mass measuring valves, throttles and fuel line connectors.
