HDPE 100: Iran now has its own catalysts for production
Iran now has produced its first "SAC500" catalyst for the production of HDPE 100 material, according to an Iranian report from Mehr News Agency. HDPE 100 is used for the production of high-pressure PE pipes. Until now, the country could in principle produce this material grade, but has lacked the necessary catalysts – see Plasteurope.com of 29.04.2016.

Seven additional catalyst systems are apparently expected to be introduced in 2020. Water infrastructure is a major topic in Iran, and one of the main applications for plastic materials in the country – see Plasteurope.com of 29.04.2016.

The development and marketing of the pipe grade has been done by the PE100+ Association (www.pe100plus.com) for the past 20 years. The association comprises the international producers Borealis, Borouge, Ineos O&P, IRPC, LyondellBasell, PetroChina Dushanzi Petrochemical, Prime Polymer, Sabic, SCG & Thai Polyethylene, Sinopec and Tasnee.
