Cooperation with Australia's Cardia Bioplastics on flexible film / Made of up to two-thirds of renewable resources
German flexible film specialist Polyden (Heilsbronn; www.polyden.de) has entered into a cooperation with Australia’s Cardia Bioplastics (Melbourne; www.cardiabioplastics.com) for its new “Polyden Cardia Biohybrid” flexible film. Up to two-thirds of the materials that make up the new film are renewable resources. Specifically, the film consists of Cardia’s “Biohybrid” resins, made of renewable thermoplastics (mostly corn starch) and PET, which Polyden then coats with a PE layer, a spokeswoman for the German film manufacturer told Plasteurope.com.

A family-run business, Polyden’s 150 employees convert about 18,000 t/y of PE into flexible film products at two plants in Heilsbronn / Germany. About 5% of its 2012 output is to go towards “Polyden Cardia Biohybrid” applications, the company added.
