POLYCARBONATE SHEET
EPSE achieves new CE mark for multiwall PC sheet / Solid sheet to follow in 2014 / EU Construction Products Regulation in force
The association of European Polycarbonate Sheet Extruders (EPSE, Brussels / Belgium; www.epse.org) has announced that manufacturers can use its proposed CE mark "EN16153" for multiwall polycarbonate sheet beginning January 2014 following publication in the EU Official Journal on 28 June 2013. EPSE has been working with the European Committee for Standardisation (Comité Européen De Normalisation, CEN, Brussels / Belgium; www.cen.eu) to establish European Norms (EN) and a CE mark for multiwall and solid PC sheet – see Plasteurope.com of 08.01.2013.
Under the EU Construction Products Regulation (EU No. 305/2011), which came into force in July 2013, all construction products have to bear a CE mark, proving compliance with the REACH legislation and indicating the manufacturers’ agreement to take responsibility for the declared performance of the product.
For solid PC sheet, the standard "EN16240" is in the final voting stage at the CEN and will be published by the end of 2013. Its use as a CE mark will be possible as at end 2014.
