UK film company bought by German group
Delton AG (Seedammweg 55, D-61352 Bad Homburg) has acquired the UK-based polyethylene film extruder Poly-Lina (Halesfield 11, Telford, GB-Shropshire TF7 4LZ), for an undisclosed sum. Founded in the 1960s, Poly-Lina has established a position as a leading manufacturer of plastic household disposables, freezer bags, bin liners and food bags. Turnover for 1995 was approximately GBP 60m.
Delton is a highly diversified private group with an annual turnover of DEM 1bn. The sole shareholder is Stefan Quandt who also has a significant stake in BMW. Delton's interests in plastics packaging are through its subsidiary CeDo GmbH (Seedammweg 55, D-61352 Bad Homburg) which has a majority share in the Belgian film company Paclan (Europarklaan 10, B-3530 Houthalen (Helchteren). The company has a similar product portfolio to Poly-Lina and also manufactures in Germany and Poland. The combined polymer throughput for Poly-Lina and CeDo's film extrusion activities is estimated to be 70,000 t/y.
