BASF to raise “Styrodur” output in Spain
In reaction to booming demand from the building insulation market, the BASF group (D-67056 Ludwigshafen; www.basf.de) plans to build a new 100,000 cbm/y plant for extruded polystyrene rigid foam (“Styrodur” C) at Tuleda, Spain. With the start-up of the new unit – which will also supply southern France – at the beginning of 2002, BASF will be able to produce 1.4m cbm of the foam annually at Ludwigshafen and Schwarzheide (D), Antwerp (B) and Bibbiano (I). Output at Bibbiano is being doubled to 400,000 cbm/y by the second half of 2001.
