“Green dot” now in Turkey, too
Turkey has become the 16th European country to introduce the recycling “green dot”. This symbol, whose fees fund the packaging waste recycling scheme, is issued by the European umbrella association, Pro Europe. Hans- Peter Repnik, chairman of the German packaging waste recycling company, Duales System Deutschland (www.gruener-punkt.de), sees Turkey´s move as a “key environmental policy signal”, showing that the country has opted for closed-loop recycling management in accordance with the European standard long before it would have been obliged to do so as a potential member of the EU.
