PLYSU
Takeover of Blowmocan's industrial container division / Five plants in Europe
At the end of February 1996, Plysu PLC (Woburn Sands, Milton Keynes, GB-MK17 8SE) acquired the assets of the Industrial Container Division of Blowmocan Ltd. The deal will enable Plysu, the leading blow moulding group in the UK and one of the largest in Europe, to enhance its position in the industrial containers markets. Blowmocan's Industrial Division, based in Milton Keynes, had an annual turnover of £ 10m with customers in the automotive, chemical and food industry. The company was taken over at the end of 1994 by the South African packaging group Nampak who then formed a joint venture with Rexam to develop its dairy and juice containers business. The sale of the industrial containers division will enable it to concentrate on this sector. Plysu's European-wide Containers Division currently has 5 manufacturing plants located in the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. The assets of Blowmocan will be fully integrated within the next three months. Plysu's turnover for 1995 was £ 99.5m with profits of £ 6.5m.
