After announcing a shift to plant-based materials for its toddler portfolio at the start of the year, toy manufacturer Playmobil (Zirndorf, Germany; www.playmobil.com) has now provided details on its cooperation with compatriot styrenics supplier Ineos Styrolution (Frankfurt; www.ineos-styrolution.com).
It’s entire Playmobil Junior portfolio has officially been converted from fossil-based to plant-based materials. The company uses Ineos Styrolution’s Terluran brand carbon-neutral ABS made with 100% bio-based feedstock in the production of its playsets.
For transparent components, Playmobil uses the styrenics company’s Zylar MBS containing 90% bio-based feedstock.
Both Ineos materials are ISCC Plus certified. Playmobil said it is currently also undergoing the process for ISCC certification.
