Purchase of pharma-packaging manufacturer / Further expansion / Turnover of DM 130m
The French plastic converter, Plastohm SA (HQ: PO Box 9, F-01810 Bellignat), a manufacturer of plastic packaging and technical parts, has taken over Plastiques Pharmaceutiques de l'Aigle (PPA, Route de Crulai 1, ZI No 1, F-61306 L'Aigle) from the Hoechst Pharma Group. PPA has an annual turnover of about DM 10m, and its major product is plastic tubing for the pharmaceutical industry. Cheddite-Plastic AG (Heidenlochstr. 112, CH-4410 Liestal), a Swiss company founded in 1959 specialising in PET bottles and pill containers, was acquired by Plastohm in April 1995 to form Cheddite-Plastohm AG. Plastohm AG anticipates a consolidated turnover of about DM 130m for this business year with packaging alone accounting for DM 75m. The Swiss subsidiary has customers in the foodstuffs, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, chemical and precision parts supply industries, and achieves a turnover of SFr 9m with approximately 50 workers. Plastohm has further sales offices and production sites in France, Italy, Great Britain, Spain and Germany.
The German sales subsidiary, Plastohm GmbH (PO Box 1248, D-47853 Willich), specialises in plastic packaging for the pharmaceutical, body care, houseware industries as well as industrial customers. Turnover is about DM 6m. The Managing Director is Jean Ribette.
