PLASTIVALOIRE
A third plant in Poland / Strong growth of sales in 1997/1998 / JV project in South America
Plastivaloire S.A. (Zone Industrielle Nord les Vallees, F-37130 Langeais) is expanding its presence in Poland where the company already manufactures TV housings for Phillips, at Kwidzyn, as well as industrial lighting – also for Phillips, at Ketrzyn, near the Russian border.
A third plant, representing a total investment between FRF 35 and 40m (EUR 5,3 and 6,1m), is currently under construction near Cracow. This is expected to start production in September 1999. According to Patrick Findeling, CEO of PVL, “it will be dedicated to the assembly of products combining plastic, metal and electronic components and will serve both the electronic and automotive industries.”
In fiscal year 1997/98 Plastivaloire increased sales to FRF 850m (EUR 129,6m). “TV sales were boosted by the football World Cup in Paris,” explains Findeling. “Our subsidiary Cimest, which makes phone housings for Alcatel, also did well, with total sales amounting to FRF 120m (EUR 18,3m), instead of FRF 90m (EUR 13,7m) as expected previously.”
In fiscal year 1998/99, consolidated sales are expected to reach FRF 950m (EUR 144,8m). According to PVL, sales in Poland should account for 10% of this, or FRF 95m (EUR 14,5m). The group also has plans to set up in South America. “A joint venture in Brazil is expected to be agreed soon,” says Findeling. The next step in PVL´s geographical expansion will probably be North America and/or Asia.
