Capacity for biologically degradable films doubled
Finnish film and packaging manufacturer Plastiroll (Ylöjärvi; www.plastiroll.fi) has doubled capacity for its biologically degradable, starch-based “Bioska” film range from 2,000 t/y to 4,000 t/y. The upgrade comes at an investment cost of EUR 4.2m.
In addition to HDPE and LDPE-based rubbish and freeze bags (“PikPak” range) as well as industrial film, Plastiroll has been manufacturing biologically degradable packaging applications for private and industrial use since 1997. The company is able to process 4,000 t/y of LDPE and HDPE respectively.
Plastiroll recorded sales of EUR 24m in 2009 and CEO Kari Laukkanen expects revenues to reach EUR 26m in 2010.
