US packaging company Plastipak (Plymouth, Michigan; www.plastipak.com) has announced partnership with compatriot food and beverage giant Kraft Heinz (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; www.kraftheinzcompany.com) to provide containers made with 100% food-grade rPET for the latter’s Real Mayo and Miracle Whip brands.
The US food giant said the transition to rPET will result in the elimination of about 6,350 t (14 mn lb) of virgin plastic use, which is set to reduce the company’s overall carbon emissions from packaging.
