PLASTIC & RUBBER MACHINERY
Exports to Russia experience a steep upward climb / Figures will fall short of pre-crisis 2007 revenue levels
German shipments of plastic and rubber machinery to Russia continue to grow. In the first nine months of 2013 the export value rose 22.1% against the same period for the previous year to EUR 179.7m, according to the German trade association VDMA Kunststoff- und Gummimaschinen (Frankfurt; http://kug.vdma.org), which released the data ahead of the upcoming "Interplastica" trade fair in Moscow, 28 - 31 January 2014 (www.interplastica.de). Despite the robust jump in revenues for 2013, German suppliers will not reach the pre-crisis level of 2007, when their business recorded EUR 242m in Russian exports.
In 2012, global exports of plastic and rubber machinery to Russia grew by 7.5% to EUR 640.1m. Exports from Germany recorded a gain of 12.1% to EUR 205.8m. Thus, with a 32.2% share of overall exports, Germany was far and away the most important supplier to Russia, ahead of Italy and China.
