PLASTIC FANTASTIC
Seemingly innocuous: plastic-wrapped warplanes
— By Plasteurope.com staff —

Every child is familiar with stealth bombers: those bizarrely shaped military aircraft that look as if they wouldn’t be able to fly – which they of course can – and are virtually undetectable by enemy radar.

But now the US Marines have (un)veiled a completely new form of military camouflage: when they delivered a unit of the brand-new Hawkeye early-warning aircraft to the Japanese air force, the turboprop-driven machine was wrapped nose to tail in plastic film.

Although we might be more familiar with latex covers in more discreet contexts, we have to recognise this: the full-body protection made of stretch film somehow makes warplanes look more peaceful.
