Turtle invasion at Lake Constance

This year’s Fakuma trade fair didn’t set an attendance record. Exactly 36,675 visitors came to Friedrichshafen – 7% fewer than last year. While the bipeds made themselves somewhat scarce, another species was present at Lake Constance en masse: the blue sea turtle.

As if on an assembly line, the turtles slid out of the demo installation of a large injection moulding machine manufacturer and flooded the exhibition halls. On a technical level, the plastic reptiles were little masterpieces – sandwich-moulded with a mechanically recycled PC/ABS core and a chemically recycled ABS skin layer.
They quickly captured the hearts of the Fakuma audience – and many a trade fair visitor is said to have been seen on the shores of Lake Constance late at night, releasing the little turtles under cover of darkness back into the wild…
