PLASTIC FANTASTIC
Could times be waning for wax museums?

The surprisingly lifelike waxen features of stars like Daniel Craig aka 007 and singer Harry Styles are quite a sight to behold. The skin might be a tad shiny, but that doesn’t seem to have an adverse effect on the scores of visitors to Madame Tussauds or the selfies they take with the facsimiles of their celebrity darlings.
However, the nearly 200-year-old institution appears to be in for some stiff competition – with 3D printing more prevalent and affordable than ever, fans can now have such figurines shipped to their home. They might not be life-size (yet) or quite as lifelike as their waxen counterparts (yet?), but on the plus side, there are more entertaining things on the agenda than selfies with a gaggle of tourists when you’ve got your own private celebrity at home.
