Organisers of the world famous "Glastonbury" music festival have hinted that plastic bottles will be banned from the event when it returns in 2019. The legendary festival regularly attracts nearly 140,000 music fans from around the world, and is having a "fallow year" in 2018, to allow the site to recover from the impact of hosting such a large gathering over the years.
Festival organiser, Emily Eavis, daughter of Glastonbury’s founder Michael Eavis, told the BBC the proposed plastic bottle ban was "the big idea for 2019." Glastonbury has long championed environmental charities such as Water Aid and Greenpeace, and urges festivalgoers to clean up after themselves under the slogan "Leave No Trace". The 0.4-hectare site features 100 recycling pens where waste such as plastic and paper containers can be put. Since glass bottles are forbidden at the grounds, what shatterproof alternatives to plastic bottles will be available for beer revellers now...?
