PLASTIC FANTASTIC
A step in the light direction
The importance of light dates back to Genesis and God’s decision to end the darkness. Everything else followed from there. Light years ahead from that founding moment, in a favela in Brazil, young footballers are starting to create their own light, one step at a time. The floodlights for their soccer field are powered by special sheets, made of recycled plastic, which generate electricity with each step taken on the field.

By simply partaking in their favourite sport, these young soccer gods are making light work of electricity, and at the same time giving a whole new meaning to the term “green light”. And the technology can be applied anywhere. All it takes is a firm step in the light direction.
