Splish splash in my foldable bath


It is not unheard of that avid soap opera fans have taken their mobile phones or other devices with them into the bath to keep track of the latest twists and turns while enjoying a good stew. A new bathtub designed by Carina Deuschl now allows the steamers among us to transport that particular bathroom experience to just about any place in the house – the front of the fireplace, for instance. The portable bathtub, consisting of a carbon fibre frame and washable synthetic inlay, is available to anyone wanting to test the waters.

Branded “Xtend”, the bathtub on the move is not an entirely new concept – after all, everyone knows a porta-potty. Whether the idea will sink or swim will in the end depend on how many people enjoy taking a bath outside of the traditional setting reserved for this type of activity. And who knows? “Bring a bath” parties could soon be coming to an open space near you…
