PLASTIC FANTASTIC
Your luxury home away from Mordor
Home is where the heart is, and the hearts of J.R.R. Tolkien fans could soon be beating inside their own underground house, much like the ones inhabited by the hobbits of the Shire. A US company is offering a luxury hobbit abode in Florida. Made of finished and waterproof plastic “caves”, which the owner then buries under a layer of earth, the real estate choice of the modern hobbit comes complete with an outdoor pool landscape and a garage suitable for a car, a horse carriage or as a sleeping space for unwanted visitors, of the dwarf-kind, for instance.

The Green Magic Homes offer great insulation, that is, if their hobbit inhabitant lives in one of the warmer regions of the world. In colder regions the pool might freeze over, and the thick layer of earth that would be needed to cover the home to ensure proper insulation would instead call for a more dwarfish abode – an Erebor-like underground castle complete with fire pits and a domesticated Smaug, whose hot breath will ensure the residents stay snug as a bug in a rug.
