PLASTIC FANTASTIC
Mini-me's travels
Photos of tourist spots, bags and hats with the city name printed on it, small-size replicas of famous monuments, dashboard figurines – there is no end to the knick-knack that can be found in a souvenir store. A solar-powered waving Queen Elizabeth, a miniature Eiffel Tower on a keychain, a heart-shaped pencil with the words “Romeo and Juliet” engraved in it, a pack of gummi bears shaped like the east German little traffic-light man. Hundreds of thousands of essentially useless items that are bought for remembrance purposes or as a small present for those who stayed at home.
Instead of opting for the generic holiday souvenir, owned and eventually thrown out, modern technology now allows you to take a miniature version of yourself along and send it on its way homewards. All you have to do is step inside the 3D printer at one of Doob’s global locations and – voilà! – you have a mini-me ready to grace that empty spot on your firends' display cabinet. Just add a fancy postcard for background and the holiday setting is complete.
