One brick, aiming high
More than 18,000 people worked on the tower for five days (Photo: Lego)
A new Guinness World record was just literally set in stone in Milan / Italy. A tall order, it rises 35 metres into the sky and is made up of more than 500,000 individual colourful components. Building it took 18,000 people – including children – five days and every centimetre of it came with a EUR 7 donation for a good cause. When the wind blows, it might be a bit shaky, challenging the uniqueness of the leaning tower of Pisa.

The cherry on top – the very last brick – was added by crane in a spectacular finale to the latest record set by Danish toy producer Lego, whose first tower made it into the Guinness book in 1980, when it came in at 13 metres height. Next up: A Lego stairway to heaven…
