When plastic becomes a religious bone of contention
Some churchgoers in the German city of Erfurt have expressed outrage at their community’s decision to install a plastic statue of Mary that came out of a 3-D printer inside the church. “This is not Disneyland”, one community member complained, comparing the act to practices common in the Middle Ages, including letters of indulgences.

If we were made in his image, then stone or wood appear to some to be more appropriate materials to depict our saints. Opinions are split: shalt thou or shalt thou not use plastic in a church?
