PLASTIC FANTASTIC
Walk like an... Amazonian!
Spanish company 01M onemoment (www.onemoment.es/en) has invented shoes made from 100 % biodegradable plastics. The concept for this inexpensive light plastic footwear comes from native Amazonians, who painted their soles with latex derived from Hevea trees, which served as protection during the rainseason, eventually wearing off and degrading back into the earth.

Barefoot enthusiasts who are not deterred by the fact that the shoes look like thick plastic bags wrapped around your feet, will point out the fact that they are flexible and come with an anti-slip sole, which offers protection from slick surfaces. Whatever the aesthetic appeal, two problems remain for those who long to go native. First, wearing shoes in bright colours like "Lipstick Red" or "Shiny Yellow" might make it hard to get that authentic Amazonian feeling. And even if the natives donĀ“t see you, they will definitely smell you, even from a 1,000 feet away...
