PLASTICS AND RUBBER MACHINERY
Euromap industry association introduces draft energy efficiency label
The European plastics and rubber machinery association Euromap (Frankfurt / Germany; www.euromap.org) has developed a neutral label to identify the energy efficiency class of plastics and rubber machinery. To date, manufacturers have used their own labels to show their product’s energy efficiency class. In developing its alternative – which, unlike the EU energy label used for refrigerators, among others, is voluntary – Euromap intends to allow customers to make comparisons.
Earlier this year, the European association published guidance on the energy efficiency of extrusion blow moulding machines – see Plasteurope.com of 14.01.2014 – while in 2013 it already had done the same for injection moulding equipment (see Plasteurope.com of 08.02.2013).
The draft label requires no third-party certification, Euromap said, adding that it is expected to come into force on 1 October.
