PLASTICSEUROPE
Exploiting football fever for a good cause / Aid campaign donates money for underprivileged youth
PlasticsEurope (Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticseurope.org), the Association of European Plastics Manufacturers, is using the occasion of the World Cup football championships to collect money for mentally handicapped children. By clicking on the "Kick to give" link, visitors to the charity website www.kicktogive.org can try to beat a goalkeeper in a penalty shoot-out.
For each click, PlasticsEurope will make a donation of 4 cents to the Johan Cruyff Foundation (www.cruyff-foundation.org), an organisation founded by the former Dutch soccer star to provide care for children with mental disabilities throughout Europe. Visitors to the site also have the opportunity to win an original World Cup ball by testing their knowledge of the sport in a quiz that throws out new questions every day.
Those who would like to make a contribution every day can register their e-mail address on the website and receive a daily reminder mail.
