Australian bioplastics manufacturer Plantic Technologies (Altona, Victoria; www.plantic.com.au) has expanded its existing distribution agreement with Klöckner Pentaplast (KP, Montabaur / Germany; www.kpfilms.com). The two companies had entered into a distribution agreement for Plantic’s biopolymer packaging films in the Americas at the beginning of this year – see Plasteurope.com of 22.02.2010. Under the new deal, KP has been named the exclusive distributor of Plantic’s “Pentafood Biofilm” rigid packaging films in Europe as well.
Based on corn starch, Plantic’s biopolymer film is renewable, biodegradable, water dispersible and home compostable, the company says, adding that it is suitable for food and general thermoformed packaging applications.
