Solvay jv acquires Irish "hot & cold" pipe producer / Two sites with sales of EUR 42m
Pipelife (Neudorf / Austria; www.pipelife.com), the 50:50 joint venture between Solvay (Brussels / Belgium; www.solvay.com) and Wienerberger (Vienna, Austria; www.wienerberger.com), has acquired Ireland´s Quality Plastics (Cork; www.qpl.ie) a leading manufacturer of specialty pipes and fittings with a focus on "hot & cold" plumbing and heating applications. Quality Plastics produces pipes in PEX, PEX multi layer, PE and PB, along with a wide range of fittings and accessories.
The company operates two factories near Cork in Ireland with combined sales of EUR 42m and 174 employees. Quality Plastics is represented in the UK through its own sales organisation and exports its products to several countries in Europe.
Pipelife said that the acquisition will reinforce one of its fastest growing product lines – hot & cold – in addition to giving the group increased access to the Irish and UK markets.
