Italian auxiliary equipment producer Piovan (Santa Maria di Sala; www.piovan.com) has acquired a majority stake in storage solutions manufacturer Penta (Poggio Renatico / Italy; www.pentamfg.it). Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Piovan said the “strategic acquisition” constitutes yet another step in completing its range of solutions to the plastics sector, while at the same time expanding its business into other fields. Penta produces a range of machines for the conversion of plastics, specifically PVC, WPC and a number of polyolefins (including PP, PE, PS and PET). The company’s portfolio also comprises equipment for food production (pasta, ice cream and confectionary).
For Penta, the new majority shareholder will allow it to raise its international footprint, bringing it closer to its customer base.
