Austria recycles PET bottles into egg packs
Austrian plastics converter BKS Ovotherm (www.ovotherm.com), Vienna, and plastics recycler Kruschitz (www.kruschitz-plastic.com), Völkermarkt, have teamed up on what they say is a new concept for recycling PET. Used drink bottles are processed into transparent egg packs, which themselves can be recycled repeatedly. The packs already are being sold by the joint subsidiary Ovopet in the US, and first European customer, grocery chain Billa, began selling them at the end of August. According to Ovotherm, French supermarket chain Carrefour and three British chains also have shown interest.
