Covisint automotive supply platform sold to Freemarkets
Another industry trading platform launched with much fanfare is being quietly passed on to an IT service provider. Following the recent sale of the former plastics industry-owned Omnexus (www.omnexus.com) to SpecialChem (www.specialchem.com), the auto industry trading portal Covisint (www.covisint.com) has been sold by founders General Motors, Ford and DamilerChrysler for an undisclosed sum to FreeMarkets Inc. (www.freemarkets.com), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania / USA. The software specialist bills itself as the "leading provider of global supply management solutions."
