Strong domestic business pushes up sales at Arburg
While incoming orders in Germany in 2003 were up 16% on the previous year, injection moulding machine manufacturers Arburg (www.arburg.com), Lossburg / Germany, had a hard time in the rest of Europe. Downturns in Great Britain, Spain and France, in particular, led to an 8% slump in orders received, despite favourable figures for Central and Eastern Europe. The result was a bottom-line increase of 3%, or 10% expressed in value terms. This discrepancy is due to the trend towards bigger machines. Sales in 2003 rose 9% to EUR 255m.
