Privately owned plastics and rubber compounder Teknor Apex (www.teknorapex.com), Pawtucket, Rhode Island / USA, has acquired technical thermoplastics compounder Chem Polymer (www.chempolymer.com), West Midlands / UK. The company manufactures reinforced, filled, and specially modified compounds of PA 6 and 6.6, POM, PBT and PET for automotive, E&E and other uses. With two plants in the UK and one in the US, it has combined annual capacity of 30,000 t/y. The management team will be retained. Chem Polymer brings to the merger its long experience in providing custom formulations and technical support for customers in "high-specification" markets. Its Asian base at Singapore also will broaden Teknor Apex's geographical presence.
