Dow taps Russian market for XPS sheet
Dow Chemical (Midland, Michigan / USA; www.dow.com) is eyeing the Russian construction sector for its XPS "Styrofoam" extruded polystyrene boards, used in exterior building insulation. The US group plans to build a new production plant at Kryukovo, near Moscow, with start-up scheduled for the first half of 2006. Alongside Russia, product will be marketed in Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. While declining to specify the size of the facility, Dow said it will "make a significant contribution" to the group's annual production capacity when fully operational.
