Pibiplast (Correggio / Italy; www.pibiplast.com), which manufactures cosmetics and pharmaceutical packaging, has two new majority owners – investment companies L. Catterton (Greenwich, Connecticut / USA; www.lcatterton.com) and Ambienta (Milan / Italy; www.ambientasgr.com), a company geared to sustainable investments. The founding Bosi family is retaining a smaller share, the size of which has not been disclosed. No further financial details were available.
With its new ownership line-up, Pibiplast should grow more strongly than in previous years. Ambienta in particular intends to invest heavily in research & development as well as in acquisitions – to increase the company's international presence and broaden its portfolio. Mauro Roversi, chief investment officer at the investment company is intending to make Pibiplast the "undisputed number one in sustainable cosmetics packaging".

Founded in 1954, the Pibiplast not only produces tubes, cans and bottles in HDPE, PP and PET, but has also made a name for itself in the industry through the use of bio-based materials and the development of particularly environmentally friendly and recyclable packaging. Under CEO Giorgio Bosi, the company has grown in recent years and now has sales of around EUR 60m. This has been achieved, among other things, through the acquisition of Bomal (2002) and Plast Line (2014). The sales offices opened in Paris and Brussels in 2016 similarly show that the company intends to strengthen its international presence.
The most recent Pibiplast investment was in a second plant at the company's main site in Correggio / Italy, which was brought into operation at the beginning of 2018, increasing the number of production sites in northern Italy to five. While Correggio and Calenzano mainly produce packaging for creams, the focus at the Tortona plant is on tubes. Production in Robbiate, on the other hand, is concentrated on make-up packaging, while the logistics location of Mancasale serves to distribute the products.
