There are signs of downstream improvement for polyamide 6.6: Italian producer Radici (Bergamo; www.radicigroup.com) has not only completed routine maintenance work at its domestic plants, but on 27 September it lifted forces majeures on PA 6.6 and its precursor, adipic acid. The FMs had been in place for several weeks, and their end was confirmed to Plasteurope.com by a company spokesperson.
Radici had declared force majeure on PA 6.6 and its precursors at the beginning of August due to heavy rains in the Novara region (see Plasteurope.com of 11.08.2021). The adipic acid line in Zeitz / Germany was also out for some time.
In Novara, Radici operates plants for almost 100,000 t/y each of PA 6.6 and adipic acid, and 50,000 t/y of HMD, according to the Plasteurope.com’s Polyglobe database (www.polyglobe.net). Zeitz has a further 100,000 t/y for adipic acid, which is not used for polyamide production.
