Dow declares FM for TDI from Freeport
Due to a break in equipment at its plant in Freeport, Texas / USA, Dow Chemical (Europe: Horgen / Switzerland; www.dow.com) declared force majeure for toluene diisocyanate (TDI) from said facility. In a statement dated 9 October 2009, Dow said it “will be unable to ship or deliver full order quantities of TDI to our contract customers.”
Although the company did not indicate when production levels would return to normal, Dow did say that production would likely remain impaired for “an extended period of time.”
On 1 October, Perstorp (Perstorp / Sweden; www.perstorppolyols.com) had announced FM for its TDI products from Le Pont de Claix / France – see Plasteurope.com of 02.10.2009.
